At first, Classicalia seemed too good to be true, but I decided to take a chance and apply. It has ended up being worth every penny and effort! Each round added to my resume and helped me grow as an artist. The judges’ comments were extremely thorough and helpful. No other competition has ever provided a free interview/documentary as part of the semifinal process. The short film was really well edited and is a great way to promote young musicians. Of course, performing with an orchestra in Vienna in the historic Konzerthaus is an opportunity of a lifetime. I was also taken by surprise that the famous PBS/KCET will broadcast the winner’s recital and film short profiles about each finalist. To think that our music will be appreciated by millions of viewers around the globe! I really felt that the organizers care about the talented musicians and want to create an opportunity to champion their careers. They were available for questions and support throughout the process. I couldn’t recommend Classicalia more to all of my colleagues! A competition that is run by musicians, for musicians.
As a parent, I was very excited when I found out about the Classicalia competition. I have two children who are both aspiring musicians. Salma is 11 and Karim is 16; they play the violin and the flute respectively. Both of them have had a very good experience participating in the competition, its most remarkable feature being a high level of competitors from all around the world. The 3 rounds leading up to the finals are well spaced throughout the year and provide the participants with much-needed incentive to explore, learn and perfect new repertoire. Since the first 3 rounds are recorded rather than in person, we were spared all the stress and hustle of an in-person competition. Nevertheless, the competition's organizers ensured that you can still listen to the other participants' submissions. This is a very important aspect of participating in a competition which I'm glad Classicalia handled well. Speaking of stress and hustle, the registration process is very friendly and flexible, and I could easily contact a member of the team anytime I had a question or needed help.
Karim and Salma both reached the semi-final round. Unfortunately, they didn't get to go to Vienna for the finals, but they still found the competition worthwhile. Apart from the competition itself, the team made a great effort to integrate everyone and create a community, with activities such as one-on-one interviews with the participants, in which both my children participated. I would recommend Classicalia to anyone looking for a fun, engaging music competition because even if you don't win the first prize, you still walk away with a great experience.
The experience I had in the Classicalia competition was the most fun and exciting feeling I had in any competition so far. Every contestant also receive feedback from the judges, regardless of whether you win or not. This allows everyone to learn and improve. Lots of effort and time are put into this competition by the Classicalia team and the judges, which makes this competition special.
“Classicalia” is an international competition that attracts the best of the young musicians from around the world. Classicalia is in a league of its own and so different to other musical competitions I have entered in the past. Classicalia is a modern competition that allows a young musician to be part of an innovative contest that sees awesome interactions with all contestants throughout each round of the competition.
The organisers have gone above and beyond “clocking up” countless hours used to promote all musicians as the competition has progressed. It was great getting constructive feedback from the highly professional jury and wonderful to be in a competition with such a high calibre of talented young musicians. My highlights of the competition are winning the Classicalia T-shirt give away and making lifelong friends.
I will definitely be applying again…….
Deciding to compete in Classicalia was an easy decision. Advertising the chance to go to Vienna was key motivation, which also grounded the realization that this is a professional competition. Personally, participating in the competition, I loved the flexibility of the repertoire material, and the feedback after each round. The competition was also very organized, something very hard to accomplish amidst Covid.Thank you so much for this incredible opportunity.
