BIO⎥ VANESSA YU 🎹 Piano
Vanessa Yu is an accomplished pianist based in Toronto, who has garnered recognition on both national and international levels. Her recent performance at Carnegie Hall as the Grand Prize winner of the Pacific Rim International Music Festival has cemented her reputation as one of the top musicians of her generation, having also been named one of CBC Music's top 30 musicians under 30.
With a track record of giving solo recitals for prestigious music series, such as the International Holland Music Sessions in the Netherlands and the Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation in Canada, Vanessa has also performed Chopin, Beethoven, and Rimsky-Korsakov concerti with numerous orchestras across North America. Her upcoming performances with the Central Texas Philharmonic Orchestra, Toronto Concert Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, and Odin Quartet in 2023 are eagerly anticipated.
Vanessa has been recognized in several international competitions, including the Chicago, Città di San Donà di Piave, Eisemann Young Artist (youngest finalist), and Thousand Islands (youngest contestant) competitions. She has also been awarded a full scholarship as a BMusPerf student at the University of Toronto, where she continues to hone her skills.
In addition to her accomplishments in the classical music world, Vanessa has had recordings nationally broadcast on CBC Music.
