BIO⎥ DYLAN RUSSELL 🎻 Strings – Cello
Dylan Russell was born in Vienna in 2012 and began playing the cello when he was five and a half years old. He currently studies with Andrea Traxler at the Johann Sebastian Bach Musikschule in Vienna. Dylan has won numerous prizes in several competitions, including 1st prize with distinction at Prima La Musica (Austria, 2020 and 2022), 1st prize at the Gustav Mahler International Cello Competition (2022), 1st prize at the Oberton International Soloist Competition (2022), 2nd prize at the Allegra Youth Competition (2022), 1st prize at the Napolinova World Cello E-Competition (2022), and the Young Talent Award in the Classic Pure Vienna Musician Competition (2022). In June 2022, he performed as a soloist with the Oberton+ chamber orchestra and in July 2022, with the Allegra Festival chamber orchestra in Sofia.
Dylan has also had the opportunity to attend master classes with Kyril Zlotnikov, Natalie Clein, and Hans-Christian Schweiker. In his free time, Dylan enjoys playing soccer, cycling, hiking, bouldering, skiing, and reading.
