Audience Choice Award Competitor

Canadian flutist Karim Khakimov hails from a musical family; his mother is a pianist and his sister Salma plays the violin. He is a multi-award winner at the North York, Unionville and other music festivals, as well as the OMFA Provincials Gold Medal for level 7 flute. He is the recipient of two RCM gold medals, including the National Gold Medal for flute performance Level 8, and of the Dianne and Robert Aitken Scholarship for Promising Flutists at the Contemporary Showcase in 2020. Karim studies with Susan Hoeppner at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists. He loves to play solo and chamber music, and when not playing music, he is interested in digital art, video editing and technology. In 2020, Karim, his family and friends organized four live-streamed classical music concerts, raising more than $1,000 for a children’s charity.
