CALLIOPE SMITH 🎻 violinist

BIO

Calliope Smith has been playing the violin since she was three, and currently studies at the San Francisco Conservatory Pre-College with Natasha Makhijani. She attends Synapse School in California and is a member of the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, winning this ensemble’s concerto competition for three years in a row. Calliope has been awarded first prizes in many competitions, including the Vivo, Crescendo International, Little Mozarts, Great Composers, and Rising Talents of the Americas competitions. She was the youngest prize winner in the 2020 Enkor Violin Competition as well as a finalist in the 2021 Vancouver Competition. Calliope recently played in masterclasses for Ariana Kim, Violetta Todorova, Tanya Tomkins, and David Chernyavsky. In her spare time, Calliope loves reading, cooking, and doing math. When she grows up, she wants to be a violinist, composer, conductor, and astrophysicist.
